Beyonce has joined forces with UNICEF to bring clean water to children in Africa. The singer and the organization launched BEYGOOD4BURUNDI while the singer was 9 months pregnant with twins in late June.
The project was created to:
“bring safe water to the most vulnerable women and children in the “Heart of Africa.” Burundi is one of the most densely populated countries in Africa with nearly half of the population lacking access to clean, safe drinking water.”
The partnership is a multi-year effort to help improve the accessibility to quality water for women and children in Burundi. #Beyonce joined the effort because she felt that water should not be a luxury but a necessity in everyones life.
“Access to water is a fundamental right,” Beyoncé said . “When you give children clean and safe water, you don’t just give them life, you give them health, an education, and a brighter future. I am committed to helping drive lasting solutions to the water crisis in Burundi.”
#BEYGOOD4BURUNDI’s mission is to help raise money, donate water and educate the world on the water crisis in Burundi.
Beyonce’s website includes alarming statistic such as the life expectancy of Burundi people which is just 43 years old and the population of 10.5 million people is growing by 2.9%.
